What is the Cape Bonsai Kai?
The Cape Bonsai Kai was founded by four enthusiasts who felt a need for a club in the area. Over the years the club has become one of the most prestigious clubs in South Africa.
Members receive a monthly newsletter and are encouraged to attend our monthly meetings which are held on the third Thursday of every month (except in December). Meetings are held at 19:30 in the J.P. Duminy Hall, Newlands (under the Newlands bridge next to the Athenaeum). We also hold regular Saturday workshops at Bishopsford Bonsai Nursery, 3 Muscat Lane South, Constantia.
The use of a comprehensive library is available to members and opens at 19:15 on the evening of the monthly meetings.
A calendar of events for the year is forwarded to all members. Participation in the Kai, be it with helping hands, or exhibiting trees, is of prime importance throughout the year and especially at show times.
The Kai advises on all aspects of Bonsai and has very experienced members in its midst.
